ARTIST BIO

Sofia Mokhor grew up in Lviv, a city in western Ukraine rich in historical landmarks with vibrant art scene.  Her interest in art was sparked at the pre-school age when she visited the backstage studios of the Lviv Opera House where, with a great owe, she observed incredible costumes, ribbons, decorative stones laid out on desks in one studio, and a huge three story high unstretched canvas in another studio.  Since then, she began to take drawing lessons and her love for art kept on growing.   The ultimate turning point to pursue arts came in 2001, when at the age of 20, Sofia decided to leave dental school in Ukraine and to move to the U.S.  for further training. Sofia was professionally trained in Ukraine and the U.S.  Sofia experimented with different mediums and styles of art and currently is focused on abstract painting, most of which include distinctive textured and collage traits.  Her paintings are displayed in private collections in New York City; Upstate NY; Jacksonville, FL and Ukraine.
